La Palma, a culinary and social hub in Estepona

With almost five decades behind it, the establishment wins people over with a menu built on fresh produce and attentive service.

On the central calle Terraza stands one of the most emblematic places in Estepona. We are talking about Bar Restaurante La Palma, a true culinary and social institution in Estepona.

La Palma is one of the most time-honoured places in Estepona and has become much more than a bar. A witness to life in Estepona for almost six decades, if its walls could talk they would tell hundreds of anecdotes and stories that have taken place inside. In other times, La Palma was a meeting point for many of Estepona's trades. Every morning its bar drew seasonal workers and the people who hired them, sales and rental agents and professionals of every kind. It was the true heart of the town.

One of its strengths is the range and versatility of what it offers. Its warm atmosphere makes dropping in at La Palma a good idea at any time of day. You can go to La Palma for a breakfast coffee and a pitufo (or a mollete if you are hungrier), for some tapas, for a sit-down meal or for a coffee with something sweet. Its wide menu of tapas and raciones stands out for its great variety of fresh fish, a symbol of Estepona's cooking.

Fresh produce is its main hallmark, and the reason thousands of people from Estepona see Bar Restaurante La Palma as a reference point for gatherings with family or friends. La Palma is, without a doubt, the place locals and visitors alike choose for a quick tapa or for a formal lunch or dinner, always with the best quality and the friendliest service possible.

La Palma would not be what it is without Francisco Galán, the soul of the project from the very beginning. His mother, María Palma, after whom the establishment is named, founded it in 1964, and her son took the reins once he came of age. Since then he has improved it and turned La Palma into a benchmark for hospitality in Estepona. Francisco has also built a loyal, familiar team. Some of them, like Francisco and Valentín, have been behind the bar for more than 30 years, serving generation after generation of Estepona's people with care and dedication.

But times change, and a new generation has arrived at La Palma. It has given the place a fresh feel, with high tables ideal for tapas and a terrace on the emblematic Plaza del Huevo. An evolution that has transformed the place while keeping its essence.
