One of Estepona’s oldest bars

The original La Palma front

“The first thing my family and I do when we arrive in Estepona is go to La Palma.” Anyone with friends who have a second home in Estepona knows that line. We have heard it so many times it is part of the house.

If any bar in Estepona has tradition, it is La Palma. We are on calle Terraza, right in the centre, where locals and visitors meet.

Francisco Galán Palma opened La Palma in 1964, aged eighteen, and named it after his mother, María Palma. Through work and persistence he made it one of the reference points of hospitality in Estepona.

Many things have made La Palma a meeting point at any time of day: a long and varied menu, the counter of fresh fish and seafood by the door, plates to share, breakfasts and afternoon coffee. That is why families, groups of friends and people passing through Estepona all end up here.

Starters and rice, fish fried, butterflied, Andalusian style or grilled, fresh seafood and meat for every taste. Good produce and friendly service, as always.

Over the years La Palma has adapted without changing what it is: high tables by the bar came along, and the terrace on Plaza del Huevo. It works for breakfast, lunch, a quick coffee, a celebration, a drink with friends or dinner.
