La Palma is one of the oldest houses in Estepona. We are on calle Terraza, in the centre, and over the years this has become more than a bar: it is a place where the life of the town happens.
For more than sixty years La Palma has watched the life of Estepona’s people and its visitors go by. If these walls could talk, they would tell everything that has been said at this bar. In other times day labourers and bosses, sales and letting agents and people from every trade met here to close their deals over a coffee. Today it is still where friends, families and people passing through Estepona meet.
Any time is a good time to come. In the morning, a coffee with a pitufo or a bocadillo de carne mechá; at midday, something at the bar or a sit-down lunch; in the afternoon, a coffee with something sweet.
Fresh produce and plates to share are what defines us, and the reason so many Estepona families celebrate birthdays, communions and anniversaries here. Good produce and friendly service, as always.
How La Palma began
La Palma cannot be understood without Francisco Galán Palma, who opened it in 1964 when he was only eighteen. He took the name from his mother, María Palma. Since then he kept improving it until it became a reference point in Estepona, and built a loyal team everyone knows. Some, like Francisco and Valentín, have been behind the bar for more than thirty years, serving generation after generation of locals.
In time the next generation took over, and the third generation has brought fresh air to the house: high tables by the bar and a terrace on Plaza del Huevo. La Palma has changed so it can stay the same.
